Maritime Training

The Sea Scan Maritime Foundation, is a Maritime Training Institution recognized by the Director General of Shipping; Govt. of India, approved by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), London and conducts training in compliance with ISO 9001 2008 certification by DET NORSKE VERITAS (GL).

Sea Scan Maritime Foundation conducts maritime training for boys & girls before joining the ship wherein, the Pre Sea Courses namely the General Purpose Rating (GP) Course & the Certificate Course in Maritime Catering (CCMC) Course are both residential courses and the selected Ratings are required to stay on the campus for 25 weeks; and the STCW (Standard of Training and Certified Watchkeeping ) courses such as EFA( Elementary First Aid); FPFF ( Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting); PST ( Personal Survival Techniques); PSSR ( Personal Safety and Social Responsibility) ; OTF (Oil Tanker Familiarisation); STSDSD (Security Training for Seafarers with designated Security Duties ) & Refresher Courses ( EFA ; FPFF; PSSR; PST). The Sea Scan Maritime Foundation has trained more than 25,000 students till date.

The aim of maritime training is to fully prepare a trainee to go to sea. Safety and efficiency of ship operation are dependent on the professional competence and dedication to duty of the seafarers on board. Hence pre-sea training is of vital importance. The Pre sea courses are compulsorily residential with workshop training, boatwork, team games, swimming, physical training, parade and a host of other extra-curricular activities. Students successfully completing this course have the required standard of knowledge, communication skills, competence, cheerful obedience to orders of superiors, team spirit, leadership and other seaman-like qualities.
